Shield Maiden: Viking Female Warrior Busts

A shield-maiden (Old Norse: skjaldmær) was a female warrior from Scandinavian folklore and mythology.

Frequently mentioned in the sagas, shield-maidens may even have inspired the legendary Valkyries, the female figures who chose the bravest fallen warriors and carried them to Valhalla.
