Apple seller

Marko has always loved prose, in his youth he had been a flashy poet with some promise. But sadly, these days it seemed that people no longer needed beautiful princesses and their brave knights; or at least didn’t want to pay for them. To feed his family Marko purchased a small piece of land, seeded it with apples and worked from sunup to sunset. Over the years he came to appreciate the beauty and unspoken poetry of growing apples. The feeling of the sunrise on his face, the pattern of sweat as it ran from his brow, the smell of a hot pie made with his apples, the smile of a child as they bit into one of his apples. These were all things as worthy of a ballad as any knight to Marko now. Today he is happy coming to the local market and singing the praises of his labor of love; creating beautiful rhymes about his sweet and juicy apples.
